James Cunningham began their career in 2013 as an Operations Engineer Intern at Airship. During their time there, they deployed development environments to EC2 and got their chops in operations. After 15 business days, they were hired as a full-time Operations Engineer and deployed a bunch of HBase. In 2016, Cunningham moved to Sentry (sentry.io) as a Senior Operations Engineer. Here, they started as Sentry's first full-time operations engineer, built out the core metrics, monitoring, and logging strategies for the production environment, and built out the core service discovery and proxying mechanisms for the production environment. James then moved into a role as an Engineering Manager, where they managed two infrastructure teams, brokered a bunch of cross-organization priorities, and initiated and led the efforts to bring high-availability to all SPOF systems. In 2021, Cunningham joined PlanetScale as a Site Reliability Engineer. James launched PlanetScale Managed Cloud and introduced the incident management process.

In 2019, they became a Teacher Assistant at the European Institute of Technology. In 2020, they took on the role of Software Engineer Project Lead at SARL GDH'COM, where they worked on a project to improve links between individuals. In 2013, they were a PDSS Desktop Support Intern for Xerox. Andrew then interned at MIM Software Inc. in 2014 as a Software Engineering Intern and was also a Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at Case Western Reserve University in 2014. From 2015 to 2016, they were a Software Engineering Intern and Database Reliability Engineer for Yelp. From 2019 to 2021, they worked at Slack as a Vitess Lead, Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Database Reliability, and Database Reliability Engineer. Fatih Arslan has worked in various software engineering roles since 2008. Fatih began their career as an Intern at BILCEM, Bilkent in 2009. In 2008, they were an Intern at TUBITAK, where they created a fronted to Synergy with an network-wide builtin Avahi feature. From 2010 to 2012, they worked as a Software Engineer at Koding Inc., where they worked on the backend and system engineering infrastructure. At Cardtek from 2012 to 2015, they were a Software Engineer, maintaining and developing large legacy enterprise-critical code. From 2015 to 2019, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at DigitalOcean, where they were a founding member of the DigitalOcean Kubernetes product. Fatih successfully released it as GA to the public and worked on release engineering and versioning of Kubernetes images, designed and implemented the CSI driver for Block Storage usage and the DigitalOcean Autoscaler for Kubernetes. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at GitHub, managing the Go Working Group and Frameworks Go Team. Fatih established workflows and company-wide standards and worked on libraries, dependency and artifact management, Go patterns and package layouts, testing & benchmarking, and internal bi-weekly Go community meetings. Dirkjan Bussink has a long history of work experience. Dirkjan began as a student assistant at the University of Twente in 2003. In 2005, they were a developer at Jool and an intern at Monito. Dirkjan also worked as a system administrator and software developer at Byte Internetservices, developing several tools. From 2006 to 2008, they were self-employed, providing software development and consultancy services. From 2008 to 2013, they worked as a software engineer at Nedap. Finally, from 2013 to 2021, Dirkjan was a Principal Software Engineer at GitHub.

Deepthi Sigireddi has worked in the technology industry since 1998. Deepthi began their career as a Software Engineer at i2 Technologies, where they added features and fixed bugs in existing software for the semiconductor industry, as well as built master planning software for the hitech industry. In 2007, they joined One Network Enterprises as a Development Manager and Technical Product Manager, where they managed Replenishment, Demand Planning, and R&D products and development teams. Deepthi also led the development, technical lead, and technical project manager for the Replenishment product suite. In 2012, they became an Independent Software Consultant. In 2015, they joined Infinite Computer Solutions as a Software Developer, where they worked on Java, Tomcat, Oracle, and Android mobile apps. In 2018, they joined PlanetScale as a Software Engineer, where they initially contributed to the Vitess Kubernetes operator and then moved on to open-source engineering. Deepthi is currently the Technical Lead for Vitess and a speaker at various conferences.

David Graham has a long history of working in the software engineering industry. David began their career in 2001 at the Leeds School of Business/University of Colorado as a Software Engineer where they were responsible for dynamic web page development using ColdFusion scripting, designing and implementing new database systems for web applications, and migrating the production database and application from Access to SQL Server. In the same year, they became a Software Engineer at the Apache Software Foundation where they were a Committer on several projects, including Struts, Commons DbUtils, and Commons Validator, and contributed a significant amount of code, bug fixes, and user support. In 2002, they became a Software Engineer at IBM where they led the development of J2EE web application and database redesign effort that saved the team over $300,000 in hosting costs, and redesigned large DB2 databases for normalization and performance. In 2003, they became the Vice President, Engineering and Chief Software Architect at Stratavia where they were responsible for all product design, technology, and strategic architectural decisions, and led the technical due diligence process for the HP acquisition of Stratavia. In 2010, they became a Software Engineer VII at HP. In 2011, they became the Founder of Negative Code. In 2012, they became a Staff Software Engineer at GitHub where they helped make github.com a little more wonderful every day. In 2015, they became a Lecturer at the University of Colorado Boulder. Most recently, in 2021, they became a Software Engineer at PlanetScale.

Rohit Nayak has been in the software engineering industry since 1991. Rohit started their career as a Software Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services and then moved on to become the CTO of MM Imagine Technologies Pvt Ltd in 1994. In 1999, they joined 4Sure.Com, Inc. as a Senior Developer. In 2011, they took up the role of Senior Web Developer at I-knowledge. From 2013 to 2019, they were the Cofounder and Director at Keurix B.V. and also ran their own nomadic software consultancy, greenIbis Software Technologies. Currently, they are a Software Engineer at PlanetScale.

Prior to this, in 2019, they worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Anova Infotech, where they developed an android application to take survey of hospitals and post it online. Patrick Reynolds has worked in the software engineering industry since 2006. Patrick began their career as a Postdoc at Cornell University, where they worked on the Nexus project. In 2008, they joined BlueStripe Software as a Software Architect, where they worked primarily on the FactFinder Collectors. In 2013, they moved to GitHub as a Distinguished Engineer. In 2020, Patrick joined PlanetScale as a Software Engineer and is currently employed there. Additionally, they have maintained the Oracle of Bacon website since 1999, where they wrote all the code and answers all the emails the Oracle receives.

John Greet has over a decade of experience in the tech industry. John began their career in 2008 as an On-Site Technician at Old Town Computers. In 2010, they moved to Revelation, Inc. as a Tech Support & Sys Admin. In 2012, they joined GitHub as a Senior Application Engineer, where they improved and secured the backend interface for staff and Enterprise appliance admins, kept the company's internal communication tools running, and containerized a legacy service or two. John then became a Quality Engineer, where they tested new features and prevented the abuse of existing ones. In 2016, Longoria was a Doris Duke Conservation Scholar at Northern Arizona University, where they worked with local environmental activist organizations on issues concerning the Navajo Nation, Grand Canyon NPS, Bears Ears, Black Mesa Mining Mill, San Juan River, and Development in the town of Patagonia AZ. In 2017, they were a GIS Regional Planning Intern at the National Parks Conservation Association, creating an interactive story map of all the National Parks across the country. In 2018, Longoria was a Data Science Research Assistant at the UC Berkeley Seismological Lab and an Engineers for Exploration, REU Intern at the University of California San Diego, where they worked on monitoring mangroves with drones, advanced imaging sensors, and machine learning models. Sam Kottler has over 8 years of experience in the tech industry. Sam began their career in 2012 as a Systems Engineer at Venmo, where they were responsible for the security, stability, and availability of API and web services written in a variety of languages. Sam then moved to Red Hat as an Engineer in Virtualization R&D, where they worked on open source systems automation software and was responsible for release management. In 2014, Sam joined DigitalOcean as a Senior Engineer + Manager and fixed numerous bugs in Linux drivers to reduce hypervisor crash rate by 75%. Sam then joined GitHub in 2016 as a Director of Engineering and Senior Manager of Infrastructure Engineering, where they led the Data Center organization and was responsible for design, deployment, and oversight of the company's physical and cloud infrastructure around the world. In 2020, Sam moved to PlanetScale as the Director of Infrastructure and Security.

Russ Dailey has worked in a variety of roles in the technology industry since 2005. From 2005 to 2008, they worked as a Senior Sales Executive at eSignal, where they were responsible for sales, marketing, account management, and strategic pipeline management. Russ then moved to GoDaddy.com, where they were an Enterprise Account Manager from 2008 to 2013, managing key global accounts and representing more than $4.3 million in annual sales. In 2013, Dailey founded Avisolve, where they developed partnerships with multiple channel partners and manufacturers, and managed 20 sales employees with more than $8 million in sales. In 2016, they founded Instant Data Centers, a datacenter edge infrastructure company, and grew it to $1 million in sales within the first two years. From 2018 to 2022, Dailey worked at Rittal North America LLC, first as a Senior Solutions Engineer and then as a Strategic Account Manager. In 2022, they began working as an Account Executive at PlanetScale, a database platform designed for developer workflows.

Omar Ramos has worked in the tech industry since 2005. From 2005 to 2008, they were a Community Member at Open Source Matters, Inc. In 2008, they began working at Imperial Valley Community College as a Webmaster. During this time, they led the reorganization of the Active Directory OU structure to support student accounts, improved the Faculty & Staff Directory structure, and created and implemented an entire Student Email Provisioning infrastructure. In 2011, they began working at eBay Inc as a Software Engineer, where they worked with the Data Hub team and focused on maintaining the existing Data Hub product. Moreno Garcia e Silva has a wealth of experience in the IT industry, beginning with Ericsson in 2003 as a RF Specialist. In 2009, they joined IBM as an IT Architect/Production Support/System Administrator. In 2012, they were promoted to Certified IT Architect, where they provided infrastructure for 1000+ internal IBM applications, managed asset capacity and performance planning for 6000+ servers, and planned and managed different network security zones. In 2018, they joined ScyllaDB as a Head of Solution Architects, managing the Solution Architects and providing technical review and recommendations to deploy Scylla in production. Currently, they are a Solutions Architect at PlanetScale since 2022.

Dan O'Connell has worked in a variety of roles since 2014. Dan began their career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Diamond Willow Assisted Living. There, they worked with the elderly who had suffered from dementia or Alzheimer's, teaching him patience and to appreciate the little things in life. From 2016-2017, Dan worked as Bagroom staff at Northland Country Club, where they learned to communicate with people in a professional setting and made many great connections. In 2017, Dan worked as a Special Events Coordinator at Beer Capitol Distributing, LLC, delivering and selling beverages and communicating with customers. Currently, they are the Head of Developer Relations at Fuel Labs.

In 2011, they began freelancing as an author for Linux New Media AG.
