Mel Stephens

Director, Talent Acquisition And Volunteer Services at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte

Mel Stephens has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Starting with a role as a Supply Sergeant in the US Army from 2000 to 2008, Mel then transitioned into the nonprofit sector. This includes working as a Program Manager at A Woman's Place from 2011 to 2012 and as an Outreach Leader at Girl Scouts Heart of Central California from 2013 to 2014. Mel's dedication to community service continued with roles at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, where they served as a Program Coordinator for Safety/Security & Volunteer Services from 2014 to 2016, then as a Program Manager for Volunteer Services from 2016 to 2018, and finally as the Director of Volunteer Services from 2018 to 2022. Most recently, Mel explored global opportunities as a Global Fellow at MovingWorlds Institute from 2021 to 2022.

Mel Stephens has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis. They also have an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Modesto Junior College. In addition to their formal education, Mel has obtained several certifications, including being a Global Social Impact Fellow from the MovingWorlds Institute, a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute, and completing courses in Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, as well as Sustainable Strategies, through LinkedIn.
