Sara C.

Sara C. has extensive work experience in the field of public health and education. Sara most recently served as the Vice President of Education at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, starting in October 2018. Prior to this, they were a Board Member at SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change from April 2018 to September 2020. Before that, they were the Director of the Love Heals Center for Youth & Families at GMHC from November 2017 to October 2018. Sara also has experience in academia, having worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at York College of the City University of New York from January 2015 to May 2018, and at CUNY School of Public Health for a brief period in 2015. Sara has a background in HIV/AIDS education, having held positions such as Director of Youth Initiatives at ACRIA from October 2016 to November 2017, and Director of Youth Initiatives at Love Heals, the Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education from October 2009 to October 2016. Sara's earlier work experience includes roles such as Program Manager at the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals from September 2006 to October 2007, and Family & Youth Development Specialist at Cornell University Cooperative Extension from August 2008 to November 2009. Additionally, they have served on the Board of Directors for the New York Abortion Access Fund from October 2013 to January 2015. Sara C. began their education at Spring Valley Sr. High School, where they attended from 1994 to 1997. After completing their high school education, they enrolled at The George Washington University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Human Services from 1997 to 2001. Following their undergraduate studies, Sara pursued a Master of Public Health degree at The George Washington University from 2001 to 2003, focusing on Health Promotion. Finally, they attended The Graduate Center, City University of New York from 2010 to 2016, where they earned a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree. Their research interests primarily revolve around sexuality education for young people.
