Ruth Caswell Smith

Ruth Caswell Smith has a wealth of experience in various roles. Ruth began their career in 1989 as a Member of Technical Staff at Hughes Aircraft Company. Ruth then moved to Pro CD, Inc. in 1994 as Manager of Database Development. In 1997, they were a Senior Project Manager at ADC. In 2000, they became a Senior Sales Engineer at SpeechWorks. In 2009, they began homeschooling their children and taught them until 2016 when they joined The Well School as a Math and Elementary School Teacher. From 2010 to 2021, they were an early member of Nubanusit Neighborhood and Farm, contributing to website design and administration, document management, budget development, accounting, and development of an electronic meals system. In 2020, they enrolled in the Data Science Career Track at Springboard, mastering skills in Python, SQL, data analysis, data visualization, hypothesis testing, and machine learning. Ruth completed two in-depth capstone projects, one of which was a diabetes prediction. In 2021, they became a Software Engineer/Data Analyst Consultant at Plannuh, launching a revenue-generating product for automating expense and metric insight, developing Python code to populate Elasticsearch with customer usage data, and designing a Kibana dashboard for use by product management and marketing. Ruth also became a Data Analytics Consultant at Sense, analyzing usage data from home energy monitors during energy saving events, developing a dashboard with results, and working with marketing to develop press releases.

Ruth Caswell Smith obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University in 1984-1988, a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1988-1989, and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1991-1993 for Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Additionally, in 2003, they obtained a Professional Chef Certificate from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts.
