Scott Wetton's work experience begins in 1999 when they served as the Owner/Operator of Student Haulage. In 2006, they worked as a Process Certification employee at Pratt & Whitney Canada and as a Facilities Surveillance Engineer at ExxonMobil. At Imperial Oil, Wetton worked as a Continuous Improvement Associate and later became the Mine Performance Engineer. Scott was also a Production Improvement Advisor and a Mine Scheduler in the company. Wetton co-founded Qrate Search Inc., a socially curated search platform, and Lesson Vendor, a platform connecting learners and instructors. Scott also had their own company, Serviette Design & Tech, where they specialized in design, development, and production of print and digital media. Wetton's most recent position was at Planswell, a financial technology start-up, where they were a Co-founder, COO, and the developer of mathematical models and financial planning technology.

Scott Wetton obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 2008 from Dalhousie University, where they studied engineering. In 2014, they attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed the Enterprise Leadership Program, focusing on business/commerce. In 2012, they also obtained the P.Eng certification from APEGA.
