CJ Hawkins has a diverse work experience in software development and engineering roles. Starting in 2006, they worked as a Research Assistant and Software Developer for the BC Ministry of Transportation, where they developed desktop and server applications for avalanche prediction and data analysis. CJ then joined Fdata Management Software Inc. in 2006, working as a Lead Software Developer and Analyst on various client projects in domains such as client management, contract management, and accounting. In 2012, CJ joined Electronic Arts as a Software Engineer, specializing in developing and supporting RESTful web services for social gaming features. CJ worked extensively with different teams to design, implement, and test new services and features for FIFA 14. From 2013 to 2017, CJ worked for Alea Software as a Software Developer, where they implemented new features, fixed bugs, and worked on all layers of the software stack. In 2017, CJ joined Hootsuite as a Software Developer, focusing on maintaining legacy backend services, designing new systems, and implementing Service Level Objectives. Finally, in 2019, CJ became an Engineering Partner at Commit, and in 2020, they joined Planworth as a Software Developer.

CJ Hawkins attended The University of British Columbia from 2001 to 2006, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree. During their time at the university, CJ studied Computer Science and Political Science.
