Nicholas Barter

Nik Barter has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. In their current position as the Head of Data & Risk at Playter, which they started in 2022, they oversee data management and risk assessment. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2021, they held the role of Head of New Business and Data at Jaja Finance, where they were responsible for managing new business opportunities and data analysis. They also worked as a Credit Analyst at Jaja Finance from 2018 to 2021.

Before joining Jaja Finance, Nik was an IFRS 9 Credit Analyst at Close Brothers from 2017 to 2018. They have also gained experience as a Portfolio Risk Analyst at Close Brothers Invoice Finance. During their time there, they were involved in providing invoice finance to SMEs and large businesses in the UK, Ireland, and Germany.

Prior to their roles at Close Brothers, Nik worked as an Auditor at SJB Consultants UK Ltd from 2007 to 2013. Their responsibilities included providing business analysis and auditing services to factoring and invoice finance firms in the UK. They also worked as a Collateral Controller at Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance from 2004 to 2007, managing a portfolio of clients with turnovers ranging from £25m to ~£1bn.

Nik's earlier work experience includes a temporary position as a Collections Assistant at Carnival Cruise Lines in 2004, where they dealt with credit control using Oracle. They also worked as a Motor Claims Negotiator at Fortis Insurance Ltd from 2003 to 2004.

Nik Barter's education history begins in 2000 when they attended the University of Southampton until 2003, where they obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Industrial Applied Mathematics. In 2005, Nik attended Eastleigh College, where they completed a degree in AAT Technician NVQ Level 4 until 2007.

Returning to education in 2008, Nik enrolled at the University of Brighton and completed a BA (Hons) degree in Accountancy Studies from 2008 to 2010. During the same period, Nik pursued another degree, ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), at the University of Brighton from 2008 to 2013.

In terms of additional certifications, Nik obtained an MAAT (Member of Association of Accounting Technicians) certification from AAT in June 2012. They also acquired an Alteryx Core Certified certification from Alteryx in January 2019. Most recently, in July 2020, Nik achieved the Tableau Specialist Desktop certification from Tableau Software.
