Hardean E. Achneck

Hardean E. Achneck, M.D. has had a diverse work experience in the medical field. Hardean E. most recently served as the Senior Vice President and Head of Clinical Development at Pliant Therapeutics, starting in July 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of Early Stage Clinical Development & Clinical Research at Dicerna Pharma/Novo Nordisk from 2019 to June 2022.

Between 2016 and 2019, Dr. Achneck worked at Haemonetics as the Director of Medical Affairs and Global Clinical Development. Dr. Achneck also has experience as a Medical Clinical Consultant for various biopharma and device companies from 2007 to 2015, providing consulting services in areas such as clinical trial design, medical information activities, and training of sales teams.

Before their consulting work, they held positions at Duke University School of Medicine, including Assistant Professor of Surgery, Pathology, Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disorders, and Research Fellow in Cardiovascular Surgery and Biomedical Engineering. At Duke University Health System, they worked as a Sponsor Investigator in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Achneck began their medical career as a Medical Doctor and General Surgery Resident at Duke University Medical Center from 2005 to 2007. Overall, their work experience demonstrates their expertise in clinical development, medical affairs, and research in various medical fields.

Hardean E. Achneck, M.D. completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University in the years 1998 to 2000. They later attended Yale University School of Medicine from 2000 to 2005, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. In 2020 to 2021, they participated in the Executive Education Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
