George Martin

Chief Technology Officer at Plico

George Martin began their work experience as an Engineer (Intern) at Volkswagen AG in 2007. George then worked as a Consultant at Systemwide Pty Ltd in 2009. In 2010, they joined Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, where they held roles as an Engineer - Logistics Area Leader and later as a Lead Engineer - Energy and Environment / Pillars Manufacturing. During their time at Toyota, they successfully managed several multi-million dollar projects and implemented continuous improvement activities. In 2014, George joined Kmart Australia Limited as a Commercial Analyst - Property and Renewal, where they quickly learned and adapted to the industry and contributed to the approval of a $20 million store board. Later that year, they started working at AusNet Services as a Senior Analyst - Enterprise Program Management Office, where they bridged the gap between engineering and finance and overhauled the company's Business Case template. From 2016 to 2022, George worked at EnergyAustralia in various roles, including Program Manager - Distributed Resources, Program Manager, and Project Manager. In these roles, they successfully delivered cutting-edge projects, managed collaborations with industry bodies, and developed new products. Currently, George is serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Plico, starting in 2022.

George Martin completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering at RMIT University from 2004 to 2008. In addition, they obtained a Bachelor of Business from the same institution from 2005 to 2009, with a field of study in Management. Later on, George pursued a Master's degree in Energy Systems at the University of Melbourne from 2013 to 2015. As for certifications, they obtained a Clarity First Program certification from the Clarity First Program in September 2020.
