Laura Gray

Laura Gray is the Director of People Operations at Plotly. Laura has over eight years of experience in higher education and non-profit administration.

Gray started their career as a Program Assistant at Simon Fraser University in 2011. In this role, they prepared briefing notes, research documents, communication/promotional materials, and funding proposals for the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), and the Director of FASS Advancement. Laura also coordinated a Faculty wide online giving and donor engagement strategy through conducting meetings; hiring contractors; and creating a new website that effectively communicated the FASS Dean’s Advancement priorities, success and goals through featured donor stories, a personal message from the Dean on the importance of philanthropy and a unique brand/graphic style (to be made public early 2014).

In their role at Simon Fraser University, Gray also worked on behalf of the FASS Dean’s office with faculty departments, Arts Central, FASS Surrey, and Alumni Relations to coordinate events for the purposes of fundraising, faculty engagement, donor engagement and student engagement; i.e. FASS Faculty Retirees Luncheon, SFU Burnaby Open house. Laura supported the Director of FASS Advancement with correspondence and stewardship reports for between 20 and 50 current donors each year. Laura recorded all FASS donor and alumni contact, FASS Dean’s office events, and donations in SFU’s online database applications system (SIMS, Blackbaud CRM). Additionally, they maintained content updates, page creation and photo libraries on FASS Advancement website using web development tools E-Moe, Adobe CQ5.

In September 2013, Gray left Simon Fraser University to join Plotly as their Director of People Operations. In this role, they are responsible for leading all aspects of people operations including recruitment, performance management, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance with employment laws and regulations, and creating a positive work environment.

Laura Gray is currently studying human resources management at Simon Fraser University. Laura has a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in international studies from Simon Fraser University and is currently studying at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
