Jouko Barensen

Jouko Barensen has extensive legal experience, currently serving as an Advocaat at Ploum since January 2017, where responsibilities include representing various companies and clients dealing with administrative and criminal law enforcement issues, particularly related to workplace accidents and environmental matters under the Economic Offenses Act. Prior to this, Jouko Barensen worked at the Openbaar Ministerie from May 2000 to January 2017 as an Officier van Justitie, leading significant investigations in common crime, fraud, and asset recovery. Additionally, experiences include serving as a Parketsecretaris and Beleidsmedewerker, handling both large and small criminal cases and contributing to projects against identity fraud and money laundering. Jouko Barensen began a legal career at the Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid as a Junior-onderzoeker from April 1998 to March 2000, participating in scientific research on organized crime in the Netherlands. Education was completed at Leiden University, earning a master's degree in Dutch law with a focus on criminal law.
