Plummer Youth Promise
MaryLuz Arling, LICSW, has over 20 years of experience in social work, with a focus on child welfare and family support. Currently serving as Program Director at Plummer Youth Promise since November 2012, MaryLuz has previously worked as a Social Worker at Casey Family Services, where responsibilities included co-facilitating a national webinar for the Fostering Connections Resource Center. Prior experience also includes roles as a Clinician at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and as an Adoption Social Worker at Child & Family Services. MaryLuz began a career in social work as a Special Needs Adoption Social Worker with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, where bi-lingual assistance was provided to Latino families. MaryLuz holds a Master’s degree in Social Work focusing on Children and Families from Salem State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Latin American Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Young people who leave the foster care or juvenile justice system without safe, stable & permanent family connections face grim outcomes, including high rates of homelessness, unemployment, early parenting and lack of education. Plummer Youth Promise is changing that by deeply and effectively engaging families for each young person we serve while building their skills and community connections, and by sharing our knowledge with others.
