William Komp

William Komp is the current Chief Data Scientist at Plutoshift. William has also worked as a Senior Data Scientist at both First Student and SmarterHQ. William is also the founder of Komplytics LLC.

William has extensive experience in data science and analytics. At First Student, they created an industry leading enterprise wide driver scoring technology. This lead to reduced accidents and driver improvement by establishing achievable goals for driver behavior improvement in terms of efficiency, safety and performance.

At SmarterHQ, William adapted product recommendation technology from retail to develop a KPI recommendation product that would suggest the primary KPIs of interests for 450 locations in North America. William was also the architect and developer of a Bus Route Stop Recommendation technology. This technology would detect unplanned stops that were occurring with a high frequency and recommend that they be added to Bus Route Plans. In addition,it would recommend plan stops that should be depracated through lack of occurrence. This accounted for Rail Road crossings which have a unique signal.

At Komplytics LLC, William saved $5M in tax credits detecting empowerment zone eligible employees using GPS device data in Azure Databricks.

William Komp received their Doctor of Philosophy in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Prior to that, they earned their Master of Science in Physical Sciences from the University of Chicago. Komp began their educational career with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Louisville.
