José Félix Ontañón Carmona has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. José Félix began their career at Emergya in 2006, where they worked as a Software Developer, focusing on open-source desktop application programming for various public sector projects. José Félix later became a Project Leader and then a Business Manager, responsible for market analysis, pricing, and account management.

In 2011, José Félix co-founded OpenKratio, an independent citizen organization promoting open government, open culture, and open data principles in Spain. In this role, they provided consultancy services to universities on open government, contributed to regional laws on transparency and citizen participation, and advised political parties on open government.

José Félix joined Sociack as a Sales Director in 2013 before transitioning to consult on open data for the Andalusian Open Data regional website. José Félix also authored training materials on open data for the state-level organization RED.ES.

In 2014, José Félix joined Pod Group, an international Mobile Virtual Network Operator specializing in connectivity services for the IoT/M2M market. José Félix served as the Director of Research and Innovation, overseeing technological innovation within the company. José Félix also led the development of a Connectivity Management Platform, integrating five different MVNOs to offer global connectivity.

Throughout their career, José Félix has demonstrated a strong dedication to open-source principles, technological innovation, and promoting open government and data transparency.

José Félix Ontañón Carmona obtained their degree in Computer Science from I.E.S. Almunia in Jerez between 1997 and 1999. José Félix further pursued their education at Universidad de Sevilla, graduating with a degree in Systems Engineering from 2000 to 2006.
