Miika Hernelahti

Miika Hernelahti serves as the Administrative Chief Medical Officer at Pohjois-Savon hyvinvointialue since March 2023. Prior to this role, Miika Hernelahti was employed at Kuopio University Hospital, where the titles included Deputy Chief and Chief Physician of Ophthalmology from May 2018 to February 2023. Miika Hernelahti also held the position of Deputy Chief and Specialist in Ophthalmology at Pohjois-Karjalan keskussairaala between May 2015 and April 2018. Earlier experience includes serving as a Specialist in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the Paavo Nurmi -keskus from September 2008 to October 2009. Academic qualifications comprise a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Helsinki, as well as specializations in Ophthalmology and Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Eastern Finland and the University of Turku, respectively.
