Matt Van Slooten

Co-President & Chief Investment Officer, United Properties at Pohlad Companies

As co-president and chief investment officer of United Properties Investment (UPI), Matt shares responsibility for United Properties with co-president Bill Katter, who also serves as president and chief investment officer of United Properties Development (UPD). Their co-leadership extends to brand and culture building, policy setting, strategic planning for growth and profits, and effective human resource development. As chief investment officer for UPI, Matt is responsible for all aspects of portfolio and asset management of the company’s stable portfolio which represents more than 7 million sq. ft. across several markets, including Minnesota, Colorado, Wisconsin and Florida. Matt is a member of the UP-Investment Committee and the Board of Governors.

Matt joined United Properties in November 2018, after serving as the president of commercial properties for CSM Corporation for four years. Prior to that, he spent 25 years with Carlson Real Estate Company, advancing through all critical company roles leading ultimately to president of the organization, a post he held for 13 years. While at Carlson Companies, he was the recipient of the Carlson Fellow Award for Leadership Achievement, the company’s highest honor.

Matt is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and a past Chapter President of NAIOP Minnesota. He is also a recipient of the NAIOP President’s Award (2009). He is an active member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO), and served on the Minnesota Chapter board as the membership chair. Matt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Saint Cloud State University. When not working, Matt enjoys playing music with friends and cabin time with his family.
