Neal Audenaert has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. In 1999, they completed summer internships at Dynetics, Inc., where they prepared IDEF0 models for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system and implemented an improved table management system for the Air Force's Joint Modeling and Simulation System (JMASS).
From 2003 to 2011, Neal worked as a Research Assistant at Texas A&M University, focusing on designing interactive systems and conducting research on how people find, explore, organize, and internalize information. During this time, they published 14 peer-reviewed papers, mentored graduate students, taught a summer course for high-achieving students, and participated in multiple research projects.
Neal then founded the Institute for Digital Christian Heritage in 2009, aiming to provide technical support to scholars in digital humanities at smaller institutions where access to quality technical support was limited.
Starting in 2012, they joined the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) as an Assistant Research Engineer at the Texas Center for Applied Technology. In this role, Neal analyzed customer requirements and led a team of software developers to design, build, and deploy various applications, including a Laboratory Information Management System for developing countries, a digital library for philosophical books, an information triage interface for emergency response personnel, and a mobile application in Kenya to detect and prevent zoonotic disease outbreaks.
Currently, Neal is working at Point as an Engineering Manager. Neal started in 2017, initially establishing the Quality team and later leading a software development team focused on expanding Point's platform. In addition to driving quality at Point, Neal supports the evolution of a more comprehensive quality engineering team that includes QA automation and release management.
Neal Audenaert has an extensive education history in the field of Computer Science. Neal obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University, completing their doctoral studies from 2006 to 2011. Prior to their Ph.D., they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science at Texas A&M University, which they pursued from 2003 to 2005. Neal Audenaert's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Linguistics, which they accomplished from 1997 to 2001, also at Texas A&M University.
