Points North Institute
Elise McCave is a seasoned film industry professional currently serving as the Executive Director at Points North Institute since September 2024. Previously, Elise held multiple leadership roles at Kickstarter from December 2016 to September 2024, including Head of Film, Senior Director of Film, and Director of Narrative Film, where Elise contributed to connecting creators with supporters on a dynamic publishing platform. Additional experience includes co-producing with Helen & the Bear from March 2022 to August 2024, acting as Consulting Producer for Cisco Kid (March 2021 - March 2023), and Associate Producer for the documentary "Driver" with Nesa Azimi in early 2020. From 2008 to 2016, Elise was the Deputy Director at Doc Society, a prominent non-profit film foundation. Early career experience includes roles in theater as an actor, drama teacher, assistant stage manager, and intern. Elise holds a BSc in Anthropology from UCL and a BA in Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

The Points North Institute is the launching pad for the next generation of nonfiction storytellers. We build a unique, interdisciplinary community of filmmakers, artists, journalists, industry leaders and local audiences, forming a creative hub where stories and talent are discovered, collaborations are born, and the future of nonfiction media is shaped. Our programs include the annual Camden International Film Festival and Points North Forum, as well as a growing suite of artist development initiatives: retreats, residencies, workshops and fellowships that nurture the careers of diverse nonfiction storytellers and help them develop a stronger artistic voice.
