Ami Shuman

Localization Project Manager at The Pokémon Company International

Ami Shuman has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Ami began their career in 2008 at EMI Corporation where they managed a school's schedule and financials while teaching various subjects. In 2011, they worked as a Client Service Associate at The Executive Center Japan, providing administrative support to 50 small companies. Ami then worked at Boston International Travel as a Local Coordinator, organizing travel arrangements for Japanese tourists. From 2013 to 2014, they had two roles: as an Independent Translator for the Seattle Japanese Community and as an Administrator at NorthWest Student Exchange, where they coordinated with Japanese organizations and educators. In 2014, they joined Nintendo as a Translator in the product testing department. Ami'sresponsibilities included translating bugs, emails, and game-related documents. Ami later joined Big Fish Games in 2015 as a Japanese Language Editor. In this role, they edited and proofread Japanese translations and eventually took on the lead role for numerous game projects, managing localization and testing across multiple languages. Since 2019, they have been working at The Pokémon Company International as a Localization Associate and is currently a Localization Project Manager.

Ami Shuman earned a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature, General from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. In addition, Ami obtained a certification in SDL Trados Studio - Level 1 from SDL-TRADOS in June 2018.
