Kara Kansaku

Kara Kansaku has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Kara currently works as a Graphic Designer III at The Pokémon Company International, a position they started in April 2022. Prior to this role, they were a Graphic Designer II at the same company from August 2021 to April 2022.

From 2014 to the present, Kara has also been self-employed as a Freelance Graphic Designer and Illustrator, taking on various projects.

Before joining The Pokémon Company International, Kara worked as a Typesetter at Tapas Media from October 2020 to December 2021.

From September 2019 to April 2020, they held two roles at Umami Mart, first as a Shop Keeper and then as an Administrative Assistant & Buyer.

Kara previously worked as a Packaging Layout & Prepress Operator at i4Color Inc from June 2018 to July 2019.

Their experience also includes roles at Minted, where they served as an Artist Relations Liaison from March 2017 to July 2018, an Associate Merchandise Designer from December 2016 to June 2018, and a Print Quality Design Associate for a brief period in October to December 2016.

Prior to this, they worked at Minted as an Associate Merchandise Designer from December 2015 to June 2016 and as a Design Associate for a month in November to December 2015.

Kara's earlier work experience includes being a Digital Fine Arts Studio Monitor at California College of the Arts from January 2014 to May 2015, a Stylist & Sales Associate at Levi Strauss & Co. from March to December 2013, and a Media Center Monitor at California College of the Arts from August to December 2012.

Throughout their career, Kara has gained experience in graphic design, illustration, typesetting, operations, and customer service.

Kara Kansaku has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from the California College of the Arts, which they obtained from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they attended FIDM from 2009 to 2011, where they earned an Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design with an emphasis in Branding. In addition to their formal education, Kara obtained a certification as a Certified Shochu Advisor from the Sake School of America in September 2020.
