Polar Bears International
Martyn Obbard is a highly experienced biological consultant and wildlife research biologist with a career spanning several decades. Currently serving as a Biological Consultant at Trionyx Consulting Services since January 2021, Obbard has also been involved as a guide, naturalist, and presenter on Arctic expedition cruises and land-based tours since August 2017. With a notable commitment to research, Obbard has held positions at the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry as an Emeritus Research Scientist and Research Scientist, focusing on ecological studies of black and polar bears. As an adjunct professor at Trent University, supervision of graduate research and participation in teaching highlight a dedication to education. Obbard has contributed to various organizations, including membership in the IUCN/SSC Polar Bear Specialist Group and Polar Bears International. Educationally, Obbard possesses advanced degrees in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Guelph, alongside credentials in education and zoology from Western University.
