Markus Rothmaier

Markus Rothmaier is an experienced professional in research and development, currently serving as Head of Research and Development at Polaroid Therapeutics since April 2024, focusing on antimicrobial technology for medical devices. Prior to this role, Markus held the position of Head of R&D at IVF HARTMANN AG from May 2009 to March 2024, where contributions included the development of superabsorbent and antimicrobial wound dressings and various medical products in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA regulations. Additional experience includes project management roles encompassing dermal drug delivery systems at IVF HARTMANN AG and applied R&D projects in cancer therapy and biomedical devices at Empa. Markus has also served as Head of R&D at SENSORIX AG, worked as a research associate at ETH Zurich and the University of Alberta, and holds advanced degrees in Medical Physics, Analytical Chemistry, and Chemistry from ETH Zürich.
