Aaron Sharockman

Aaron Sharockman is the executive director of PolitiFact based at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Fla. Aaron leads the growth and development of PolitiFact, manages its outreach and partnerships, and oversees new initiatives and product development. Aaron also oversees Poynter's MediaWise initiative, which aims to empower people of all ages to be more critical consumers of content online. Aaron has been with PolitiFact as a writer and editor since 2010 after seven years covering government and politics for the Tampa Bay Times. Aaron was a 2016-17 Reynolds Fellow at the University of Missouri and taught a class on political fact-checking at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Aaron currently serves as president of the board of directors for the Independent Florida Alligator at the University of Florida.
