Jakob Sorgenfri Kjær has extensive experience as a journalist, with roles at various media organizations. Jakob Sorgenfri began their career at Enok Film & TV in 2005 and also worked as a freelance journalist for Fagbladet Journalisten, Politiken, and Tipsbladet during this time. From 2005 to 2006, Jakob served as the responsible editor-in-chief at Lixen - bladet for de journaliststuderende på SDU. Starting in 2006, they worked as a journalist intern at Politiken until 2007. Jakob Sorgenfri then joined Viasat Sport as a journalist, editor's secretary, and producer from 2001 to 2006. Jakob briefly worked as a journalist for Politiken's web and print media platforms from January to June 2008. Jakob Sorgenfri also had a short role as a journalist at Nyhedsavisen in August and September 2008. Jakob then returned to Politiken and held positions as a journalist, business and economy reporter, investigative reporter, journalist in the infrastructure department, and investigative journalist from 2008 to the present day. In their investigative roles, Jakob focused on tax avoidance, surveillance, IT security, data protection issues, the construction scandal of the Copenhagen metro, and other topics.

Jakob Sorgenfri Kjær began their education at Washington High School in Phoenix from 1997 to 1998. Jakob Sorgenfri then attended Gl. Hellerup Gymnasium from 1998 to 2001. Following this, they pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Copenhagen from 2003 to 2004, focusing on sociology. Jakob then went on to earn their Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Southern Denmark, also known as Syddansk Universitet, completing their studies from 2004 to 2008.
