Sepa Nanayakkara has a wealth of experience in research and polymer development. In 2021, they began working as a Polymer Development Scientist at PolyActiva. From 2014-2021, they worked at Monash University in two roles, first as a Research Fellow and then as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. During this time, they developed highly developed research qualitative and analytical skills, as well as technical experience in organic and polymer synthesis and testing. From 2010-2014, they were a PhD Student at Monash University, where they were extensively involved in bio polymer synthesis and characterization, and was responsible for equipment management.

Sepa Nanayakkara obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Polymer Chemistry from Monash University from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Bio polymers from the University of Colombo and a BSc (Hons) in Science from the same university.
