Research Project Mentor at Polygence

Clara Liao has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Clara is currently a Neuroscience PhD Candidate at Yale University School of Medicine, starting in August 2019. In 2023, Clara worked as an Online Support Assistant at Yale Summer Session. Prior to that, they were a Skating Instructor at Cass Park Ice RInk starting in November 2022. Additionally, Clara served as a Research Project Mentor at Polygence from July 2022.

In 2022, Clara had multiple roles at Yale University, including being a GSAS Profession Experience Fellow for Yale Summer Session from September 2022 to May 2023. Clara also participated as a Leader of Tomorrow at the St. Gallen Symposium in May 2022.

Clara's earlier work experience includes being a Graduate Teaching Scholar at Yale University from August 2020 to December 2021. In this role, they taught a weekly discussion section for the Yale undergraduate course MCDB 105: Biology, The World, and Us. Clara also served as a Video Creator in Science Communication, producing whiteboard-illustration-style videos on COVID-19 science. Clara was a GSAS Profession Experience Fellow for Science Communication from August 2020 to December 2020.

In 2020, Clara worked as a Learn-to-Skate Instructor at the US Figure Skating Association from January to April. Prior to that, they served as a Postgraduate Researcher and Lab Manager in the Lab of Dr. Nadya Dimitrova at Yale University from August 2017 to July 2019, focusing on the role of long non-coding RNAs in tumor development.

Clara's earliest research experience was as a Research Assistant in the Lab of Dr. Andrew Bass at Cornell University from February 2015 to May 2017. Clara conducted an independent research project studying the molecular and neural networks of vocal-acoustic communication in midshipman fish.

Clara Liao is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Yale University School of Medicine, which they started in 2019. In addition, they are also a non-degree graduate student at Cornell University's Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering since 2022. Clara completed their undergraduate studies at Cornell University from 2013 to 2017, achieving a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biological Sciences: Neurobiology and Behavior, with a minor in English. Prior to their college education, they attended Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences from 2009 to 2013 for their high school education.
