Risto Haapala

Risto Haapala is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in machine automation and control systems. Currently serving as Chief Design Engineer - Machine Control at Ponsse since December 2024, Risto leads teams and oversees the technical aspects of machine automation systems for forest machinery. Prior to this role, Risto was the Manager of Electrical & Control Systems at Tana Oy, where responsibilities included managing control system projects and driving digitalization efforts. Risto's career began at Hydac Oy, where contributions included technical sales support and leading PLC application development. Risto holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Machine Automation from Tampere University of Technology.
