Valeria Puga Álvarez

Valeria Puga Álvarez currently serves as a non-resident associate research fellow at the Vienna International Institute for Middle East Studies (VIIMES) and a par revisora at CEDIA since June 2024. Valeria also holds the position of Professor of International Relations at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, where Valeria teaches courses on Introduction to International Relations and Social and Political Processes of Latin America. Additionally, Valeria has experience as a visiting fellow at the University of Public Service, focusing on Latin American politics and international disarmament. Prior roles include a doctoral researcher at Corvinus University of Budapest and a research coordinator at the Cold War History Research Center. Valeria's expertise has been sought in various advisory roles within the Ecuadorian government. Valeria earned a PhD in International Relations with a focus on security from Corvinus University of Budapest and holds a Master's degree in International Relations, Security, and Human Rights from Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales.
