Joey Nakayama is an experienced professional with a diverse background in design, strategy, and innovation. Currently a Founding Member at Open Facilitation since October 2022, and an Independent Consultant since December 2013, Nakayama partners with leaders in both startups and established organizations to identify and address people's needs through human-centered design and workshop facilitation. As the Owner of a residential real estate portfolio since September 2012, Nakayama employs buy & hold and value-add strategies in managing three buildings with nine apartments. Previous roles include Community Lead at Popcorn, Senior Manager of Strategy and Innovation at the American Medical Association, Director of Strategic Innovation at YMCA, Design Lead at gravitytank, and Principal Designer at Herbst LaZar Bell Inc. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.
