Valerie Firth

Valerie Firth has extensive experience in educational roles, currently serving as a Substitute Teacher for Poquoson City Public Schools since September 2018 and as a School Counselor for Chesapeake Public Schools since August 2015. Prior to these positions, Valerie worked as a High School Counselor at Hampton City Schools from August 2003 to June 2015 and as a School Counselor at Lancaster Public Schools for the 2002-2003 academic year. Valerie's career began in education with a role as a Girl's Basketball Coach at York County Schools in 1999. Academic credentials include an EdS in Educational Leadership and Administration from Liberty University (2010-2012), a Master of Science in Sport Management from California University of Pennsylvania (2006-2007), a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Hampton University (2000-2001), and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Longwood College (1994-1998).
