Robert Gleason

Director, Procurement at Broward County Government

Robert Gleason has a diverse and extensive work experience. Robert currently serves as the Director of Procurement for Broward County Government, where they lead and administers the central procurement system. Prior to that, they were the Chief Procurement Officer for the State of Maryland, where they developed a statewide transformation plan. Robert also served as the Director of Purchases & Supply for the Commonwealth of Virginia, where they developed the strategic sourcing program for essential goods and services statewide. Before that, they were the Chief Procurement Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia - General Services, responsible for procurement activity and contract management. Additionally, they served as the IT Contracts Manager for the Virginia Information Technologies Agency, managing complex IT term agreements. Robert also has experience in the private sector, having developed and managed a micro-multinational business specializing in international rental property investment. In their earlier career, they worked as a procurement manager for the Commonwealth of Virginia and as the Manager of Administrative Services for ChildFund International. Robert started their career in consumer electronics retail sales at Circuit City. Robert has also worked in an international capacity as an Assistant to DCSOPS at NATO.

Robert Gleason has a BA degree from the Virginia Military Institute. Robert also holds a Certification in Advanced Logistics Executive Development Course from the USA Logistics Management College. Robert pursued an MS in Systems Management from the University of Southern California but did not complete the degree. Additionally, they attended Hargrave Military Academy. Robert has obtained several certifications, including Certified Maryland Procurement Officer (CMPO) from the State of Maryland, Virginia Contracting Master (VCM) from the Virginia Institute of Procurement (VIP), Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) from the Virginia Institute of Procurement (VIP), and Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) from The Universal Public Procurement Certification Council.
