Architectural Design Manager at Port of Portland

Vawn McCollum has extensive work experience in the field of architecture and design. Since 2019, McCollum has been employed as an Architectural Design Manager at the Port of Portland. In this role, McCollum has contributed to various projects including the expansion wing, rental car center, concourse expansion, parking, and ticketing/terminal core project. Responsibilities have included reviewing drawings, submittals, and RFI's to ensure high-quality and durable outcomes, as well as organizing office relocations and facilitating furniture installations.

Prior to joining the Port of Portland, McCollum worked as a Design Manager at Kaiser Permanente from 2017 to 2019. Here, McCollum was involved in front-end design and material selections for projects within healthcare facilities such as operation rooms, medical office building remodels, oncology, and radiology facilities.

From 2011 to 2017, McCollum served as a Project Manager at inici group, Inc. During this time, McCollum played a key role in the development and completion of Daimler Trucks of North America's Headquarters. This LEED Platinum building featured solar power, radiant sails, DOAS heating, and cooling systems, and a raised floor integrated with power and data infrastructure.

Before joining inici group, Inc., McCollum was the Owner/Designer of Vawn Marcelle Design from 2006 to 2016, offering design services to various clients.

Other notable experiences include working as a Construction Project Manager at Kaiser Permanente from 2004 to 2006, an Architectural Job Captain at RNT Architects from 1998 to 2000, and an Architectural Intern at LRS Architects, Inc. from 1995 to 1998.

Throughout their career, McCollum has gained expertise in project management, design, and coordination of construction documents.

Vawn McCollum pursued their education from 1990 to 1995 at the University of Oregon. During this period, they obtained a Bachelor of Architecture degree (B.Arch.), and also completed a minor in Interior Architecture.
