Ralph Stanley has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Ralph began their career as an Emergency Medical Technician at Peninsula Medics Ambulance Company in 1981. From there, they worked as a Police Officer at Del Rey Oaks Police Department from May 1983 to May 1984, initially as a Level 1 reserve Police Officer and later as a full-time Police Officer. Ralph then served as a Police Officer at Seaside Police Department from May 1984 to March 1985 and at Monterey Police Department from March 1985 to March 1986. In 1986, they joined Pacific Grove Police Department, where they worked as a Police Officer for 17 years, from May 1986 to September 2003. After leaving the police force, Ralph worked as a Marine Surveyor at American Marine Surveys from December 2004 to June 2010. Finally, they served as a Security Patrol Officer at Port of Tacoma starting in April 2010.

Ralph Stanley's education history includes attending various institutions over the years. In 1980, they were enrolled at Whitworth University, where they pursued a general field of study. However, no specific degree was obtained during this time. From 1981 to 1995, Stanley attended Monterey Peninsula College, where they earned an Associate in Science degree in Administration of Justice. Finally, in 2004, they completed a certificate program in Small Recreational Craft from the Havorn Marine Survey & Shipwright School.
