Paul Pope has over 19 years of work experience, starting as an instructor for Remington College-Largo Campus in 2002. In 2003, they became a Senior Systems Engineer for WestCoast Consulting until 2007 when they joined DataBalance (now iVenture Solutions) as a Senior Systems Engineer until 2011. Paul then became an IT Manager for Port Tampa Bay in 2011, where they currently work.

Paul Pope earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Management from Nova Southeastern University in 1995. Paul later furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Science in Information Technology with a focus on Information Technology Management from Southern New Hampshire University between 2016 and 2019. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications including a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer from Microsoft in 2003, Certified Government Chief Information Officer (CGCIO) from Florida State University in 2020, and a Maritime Port Executive from the International Association of Maritime and Port Executives in 2021. Paul also obtained a Certified Public Technology Manager (CPTM) certification from Florida State University, although it is unclear when they obtained it.
