Phil Calder

Phil Calder is an engineering leader with extensive experience in DevSecOps, financial markets, energy, and government sectors. Currently serving as the VP of Engineering at Portainer.io, Phil leads initiatives across Development, Platform, DevOps, and Quality to enhance container management solutions. Previously, Phil held significant roles at GitLab, including Director of Engineering and Engineering Manager for Growth, where they drove product-led growth and established critical security features. With a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, Phil is passionate about developing secure, scalable, user-friendly solutions, particularly in the realm of software development and agentic AI. Phil's education continues at the University of Canterbury.
