Shalanda Sims

Shalanda Sims serves as the Executive and Artistic Director for World Stage Theatre since April 2006, with a focus on community outreach, marketing, and directing among other roles. In addition, Shalanda has been a Teaching Artist at Portland Center Stage at The Armory since January 2015, imparting theater techniques to school-age students. As a playwright, Shalanda has contributed to Who I Am Celebrating Me since February 2007 and has independently written nine plays over a career that spans more than two decades, which includes diverse roles as a performer, director, and artistic director. Previous experience includes serving as Parent Coordinator at Self Enhancement, Inc., where focus was on community engagement and advocacy for African American students. Educational background includes studies at Portland State University and the University of Portland.
