Jay Bates

Jay Bates, MSSL, serves as the Senior Security Manager at Portland General Electric since September 2021, previously holding the position of Security Manager. A distinguished career in law enforcement includes various roles at the Portland Police Bureau from May 1996 to September 2021, progressing from Police Officer to Commander. Initial experience as a Police Officer was gained at the Tualatin Police Department from June 1995 to May 1996. Jay Bates holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston and has completed several advanced programs, including participation in the FBI National Academy and obtaining a Graduate Certificate from the University of Virginia in Criminal Justice. Additionally, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration was earned from Western Oregon University.
