Maggie Michaels

High School Language Arts Teacher, Home Instructor & Substitute Teacher at Portland Public Schools

Maggie Michaels is a seasoned educator and project manager with extensive experience in language arts education, culinary education, and program development. Currently serving as a Catalyst for Hire at Maggie-Michaels since October 2018, Maggie has successfully launched initiatives such as the Seafood Butchery pilot program for Oregon Coast schools and provided strategic advice for workforce development. Over a tenure at Portland Public Schools beginning in 2002, Maggie has developed innovative curricula for diverse student populations and employed differentiated instruction to address achievement gaps. As the Founder and Executive Director of The Curriculum of Cuisine, Maggie created award-winning culinary education programs that integrate academic learning with practical skills. Additional roles include co-coordinating statewide campaigns for Food Day and teaching at various educational institutions. Maggie holds a Master's in Teaching from Lewis & Clark College and certificates in Sustainable Food Systems, complemented by dual Bachelor's degrees in English and Sociology from the University of Oregon.
