Sarah Schwarz has significant work experience in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on fundraising and development. Sarah served as President & Chief Executive Officer at the Portland State University Foundation from July 2020 to the present. Prior to this role, they held positions such as Executive Vice President, Chief Development Officer, and Director of Gift Planning at the same organization. In these roles, they successfully raised increasing amounts of funds and led the launch of PSU's first comprehensive campaign. Before joining PSU, Sarah worked at the Oregon Health & Science University Foundation as a Senior Director and Director of Gift Planning. Sarah also gained experience as a Consultant at Charitable Estate Planning Northwest and as the Director of Planned Giving at Providence Health System Medical Foundations.
Sarah Schwarz received their Bachelor of Arts in English and religion from the University of Iowa from 1988 to 1992. Following that, they attended Drake University Law School from 1993 to 1996, where they obtained their Doctor of Law degree (JD).
