Mike Johnston

Mike Johnston has had an extensive career in ice hockey coaching and management. Mike began their career with the Vancouver Canucks in 1999 as an Associate Coach, a position they held until 2006. Mike then joined the Los Angeles Kings as an Associate Coach from 2006 to 2008. Following this, they served as the General Manager and Coach for the Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club from 2008 to 2014. In 2014, they briefly joined the Pittsburgh Penguins as a Coach. Currently, they hold the position of VP GM/Coach for the Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club, a role they have held since 2016.

Mike Johnston received their Bachelor of Physical Education degree from Acadia University. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree at Brandon University from 1978 to 1980. Mike later completed their Master of Kinesiology degree at the University of Calgary from 1987 to 1989, specializing in Physical Education.
