Portmagee Whiskey
Stuart McNamara has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 2013, they worked as the Editor at WhiskeyBlogger.com and IrishWhiskey.com. Stuart then founded and created International Irish Whiskey Day in 2016, a celebration held annually on March 3rd. In 2016, they also served as the Military Assistant to the Commander of European Union Military Forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2017, Stuart became the Founder-Director of Portmagee Whiskey and also took on the role of Commanding Officer DFHQ CIS Coy in the Irish Defence Forces. In 2020, they co-founded Wexbury Spirits and became the Chief Technology Officer for eTeachers Global, an Irish-developed Online English Teaching platform.
In 2021, Stuart became the Chairman of the Irish Craft and Artisan Distilleries Association (ICADA) and a member of the National Council of ISME Ireland. Stuart is also due to become a Visiting Lecturer in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Magnum Institute in 2023, where they will teach a course to Wine and Spirits marketing degree students. Overall, Stuart McNamara has demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for the whiskey industry.
Stuart McNamara's education history is as follows:
From 2022 to 2023, Stuart attended Technological University Dublin, where they obtained a Post Graduate Certificate (Level 9) in Brewing and Distilling. Stuart focused on the field of study in Food Science and Technology.
In 2017 to 2018, Stuart pursued a Certificate in Data Protection Practice at the Law Society of Ireland. Their studies concentrated on Data Protection, Data Privacy, and GDPR.
Stuart earned a Master's Degree in Leadership and Management from Maynooth University in 2006 to 2007.
From 2012 to 2013, Stuart completed a Diploma in Digital Marketing at Irish Times Training. Their coursework was centered around Digital Marketing strategies.
Lastly, from 2003 to 2005, Stuart participated in the NCTC Level 2 Tutor Programme at the University of Limerick. This program focused on National Coach Training Centre and Advanced Sports Tutor Training.

Portmagee Whiskey: Portmagee Whiskey crafts small batches of Irish Whiskey for the world to enjoy. Our people are passionate and proud of Portmagee and together we seek to grow in harmony with our village, providing opportunity and adventure for future generations of our community. Small Batch Whiskey: Portmagee Whiskey intends to release our 9 Year Old Barbados Rum cask Irish Whiskey in small batches of a single cask at a time. Each cask will fill a limited number of individually numbered bottles of Whiskey with a unique taste and character from each cask to reflect the wonderfully wild and diverse nature and character of Portmagee village and community. Portmagee Village: The village is located on the Iveragh peninsula and is the gateway to Valentia Island, The name Portmagee (Port Magee) comes from the exploits of Captain Theobald Magee, a notorious 18th-century smuggler. Having served in the army of King James as an officer, Magee ‘retired’ to a life of merchant shipping between France, Portugal and Ireland. Sustainable Whiskey Tourism: Portmagee Whiskey is a registered Origin Green member as part of the Bord Bia Sustainability Charter Programme.
