Oleg Bartunov

Oleg Bartunov is a seasoned professional in the fields of PostgreSQL development and astronomy. Serving as CEO of Postgres Professional since 2015, Oleg oversees a Russian vendor specializing in PostgreSQL software and support services. Simultaneously, Oleg has held the position of Head of Information Technology in the Astronomy Group at SAI MSU since 2006, focusing on information management in astronomy within the Virtual Observatory framework. Oleg's extensive experience as a major developer for the PostgreSQL Global Development Group, which began in 1996, includes contributions to indexing frameworks and new data types. Additionally, Oleg's research background as a scientist and astronomer at SAI MSU is complemented by roles in database consulting, project management, and software development across various organizations, including EPAM Systems and Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research Inc. Oleg holds a master's degree in Astronomy from Lomonosov Moscow State University, earned between 1976 and 1985.
