Majed Shakir

Software Developer at Potential Motors

Majed Shakir has a wealth of experience in software engineering and machine learning. In 2020, they began working as a Software Developer for Potential Motors, where they created a predictive machine learning classifier to understand road conditions, an artificial intelligence algorithm to simulate physics on predicted road conditions, and a sensory network for a car environment. From 2015 to 2020, they worked for the University of New Brunswick as a Research Assistant, Co-instructor, Teacher Assistant, and Research Engineer. In their role as a Research Assistant, they developed an Energy Management Systems (EMS), researched, designed, simulated, and implemented machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligent solutions, and created an automated Artificial Intelligent solution for residential and small commercial Energy Management Systems. As a Co-instructor, they taught and supervised undergraduate capstone engineering projects. As a Teacher Assistant, they taught and instructed undergraduate and graduate students in embedded systems design, machines, and realtime systems. As a Research Engineer, they developed a smart inverter with the ability to process sensory data, push data through the internet, and store data. In 2014, they worked as an Intern Developer Engineer at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, where they refined a shoulder and elbow robot PID controller, integrated and tested new arm functionality, and trained new engineers in programming and designing methodology. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Teacher Assistant at the University of New Brunswick, teaching mathematics tutorial classes and marking assignments and quizzes.

Majed Shakir completed a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 2015, majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Majed then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the same university, which they completed in 2019.
