Tony Tether has over three decades of leadership experience in technology and government sectors. Currently serving as the Managing Member at NSIP LLC and Ellington Healthcare Partners, Tether also holds the CEO position at The Sequoia Group and is a Distinguished Fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies. Previously, Tether directed DARPA, overseeing advanced research programs for the Department of Defense. Tether's career also includes significant roles at Dynamics Technology Inc, SAIC, Ford Aerospace Corporation, and the United States Department of Defense. Tether holds advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering and Control Theory from Stanford University and a Bachelor's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies is an independent, 501(c)(3), not-for-profit public policy research institute. The Institute identifies and aggressively shepherds discussion on key science, technology, and national security issues facing our society. From these discussions and forums, we develop meaningful policy options and ensure their implementation at the intersection of business and government. The Institute’s current endeavors have required the formation of special efforts in: Terrorism and asymmetry; Emerging threats and opportunities; National health policies; Science and technology forecasting; and National security.
