Chief Strategy Officer at UCHealth

Michael Cancro serves as the chief strategy officer for UCHealth, a nationally recognized health care system with operating revenue of $5.4 billion and a workforce of more than 28,000 people. UCHealth includes 12 Colorado hospitals, with about 2,000 inpatient beds and more than 150 clinics in Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska.

Mr. Cancro joined UCHealth in December 2012 and is responsible for leading corporate strategy, large-scale mergers and acquisitions, population health, operational intelligence and analytics, strategic partnerships, planning, special projects, provider relations and outreach.

Mr. Cancro also serves as president of the UCHealth Coordinated Care Colorado, a clinically integrated network (“Network”), and is responsible for the implementation and growth of UCHealth’s population health services. Mr. Cancro oversees operations, finance and analytics, aspects of planning and strategy for contracting and value-based plans for the Network. UCHealth Coordinated Care Colorado is one of the largest physician-led accountable care organizations in the State of Colorado and includes many strategic partners including physician practices, ambulatory locations, hospital facilities, post-acute care providers and more.

Prior to joining UCHealth, Mr. Cancro worked at Deloitte Consulting, serving some of the nation’s leading health care systems and payers. His work was primarily focused on enterprise strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, operational and financial performance improvement, project management, new business ventures, population health, health policy evaluation, innovation, and new ventures.

Mr. Cancro attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both his master’s and undergraduate degrees.
