Melissa Barry

Melissa Barry has a diverse work experience in the education field. Melissa is currently working as a Principal at Poway Unified School District since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as an Assistant Principal at Carlsbad Unified School District from 2019 to 2023. Melissa also held the role of English Teacher/Instructional Coach at the same district from 2019 to 2023. From 2013 to 2019, they worked at Guajome Park Academy, where they served as a School Administrator from 2017 to 2019. Melissa also held the position of Instructional Lead Teacher from 2016 to 2017 and 6th Grade Language Arts Teacher from 2013 to 2017. Before that, they worked at San Dieguito Unified School District as an English/Speech and Debate Teacher from 2011 to 2013. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Reading Interventionist/English Teacher at Sanger High School from 2006 to 2011 and as an English/Journalism Teacher at Phillipsburg School District from 2004 to 2006.

Melissa Barry obtained a Master's degree in English Language and Literature/Letters from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania between 2001 and 2006. In 2006, they also obtained a Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development Certificate from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Additionally, in 2010, Melissa obtained a Single Subject Teaching Credential from the Commission on Teaching Credentialing.
