Wei Liu

Fab Manager, Sr. Staff Foundry Engineering at Power Integrations

Wei Liu has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. They started their career as a Visiting Researcher at UMIST, conducting research in chemical engineering. They then worked as an Alumni Graduate Fellow at the University of Florida, followed by a research position at IBM TJ Watson Research Center, where they focused on photovoltaics and obtained several patents.

After this, they transitioned to industry and worked as a Process Engineer at a Solar Startup. They later joined Intermolecular as a Senior Engineer, where they gained experience in process development and technology implementation for semiconductors, photovoltaics, display, and memory applications. They developed expertise in thin film growth and processing, material characterization, DOE, and statistical data analysis.

Following their time at Intermolecular, Wei Liu joined Maxim Integrated as a Sr Member of Technical Staff, specializing in analog device and process development. They focused on process development, yield improvement, and reliability improvement for Maxim's latest BCD technology.

Currently, Wei Liu works at Power Integrations as a Fab Manager, Sr. Staff Foundry Engineering. In this role, they manage one of the company's fabs, drive yield improvement, optimize device layout and fab process, and lead engineering builds for product evaluations. They also serve as a subject matter expert for process integration and key process modules. Additionally, Wei Liu is involved in data mining, data analysis, and troubleshooting.

Throughout their career, Wei Liu has demonstrated strong technical skills, expertise in various aspects of semiconductor manufacturing, and a track record of driving process improvements and delivering high-quality products.

Wei Liu earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University from 1996 to 2002. Wei then went on to complete a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Material Science at the University of Florida from 2002 to 2007.
