Iyad Abdal has extensive experience in various leadership roles in the finance industry. Iyad started their career at Depa Ltd in 2003 as Group CFO and Managing Director Finance, where they led restructuring and re-positioning strategies for the company. Iyad then worked as the Group CFO at Dubai Properties Group, overseeing a major restructuring and turnaround assignment. Abdal later joined Arabtec Holding PJSC, where they served as Group CFO and Acting CEO. During their time there, they handled multiple corporate and operational functions for the largest construction listed company in the UAE. Iyad also worked as a Restructuring and Setup Advisor to Shareholders for leading interior and oil & gas contracting companies in Qatar. Abdal's role involved creating diagnostic reports and setting up new e-commerce and well-being advisory firms. In 2015, they became the Group CFO of Al-Futtaim, responsible for various business lines including real estate, retail mall development, hospitality, and engineering contracting. Abdal then joined Power International Holding as Group CFO, managing a diverse portfolio of businesses including construction, infrastructure, design, facility management, real estate development, food and beverage, manufacturing, and travel. Iyad played a key role in the IPO of Baladna Food Industries on the Qatar Financial Market. In 2019, Abdal served as Group CFO at Emaar, The Economic City, and later returned to Power International Holding as Group CFO in 2021. Iyad is currently serving as the Managing Director and Board/Committee Member at Estithmar Holding.
Iyad Abdal has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Yarmouk University, which they obtained between the years 1989 and 1993. Iyad later pursued further education and earned an MBA degree from the University of Wollongong in Dubai from 2005 to 2007. Additionally, they completed an Executive Mergers and Acquisitions Training program at the London Business School, although the specific years of attendance are not mentioned.
