Director Digital Engineering Office at Powerlink Queensland

Brian Atkin has a diverse work experience background. Brian currently holds the role of Director of the Digital Engineering Office at Powerlink Queensland since August 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Head of IT Strategy, Architecture, Planning, Engagement, Cyber, and Sourcing at Powerlink Queensland from September 2019 to July 2022.

Aside from their work at Powerlink Queensland, Brian Atkin founded and worked as the Founder of Makira Gold - Solomon Islands Cacao since December 2014. Brian also co-founded and served as the Chief of South Pacific Cacao and Chocolate, Australia starting in September 2018. Brian Atkin also contributed as a Volunteer in the cervical cancer prevention and control program in the Solomon Islands at the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF) from May 2013 to May 2015. Before that, they gained experience in various ICT technical roles across government, not-for-profit, and private sectors starting from 2000. Additionally, they worked as the Manager of Kowanyama Office at Cape York Digital Network, where they managed the local branch office and provided ICT support from January 2004 to June 2004.

Brian Atkin attended Ferny Grove State High School and Samford State School, but no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for these schools. In 1999 to 2000, they completed a Diploma of Information Technology (Systems Analysis and Design) at TAFE Queensland. From 2001 to 2003, they pursued a Bachelor of Information Technology (Data Communications) at QUT (Queensland University of Technology). In 2017, they participated in a Social Enterprise accelerator program at Impact Academy.
