Murugesan Rajendran

Rajendran is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Power Mech. He currently heads the Non -Power Industrial Construction vertical of our business besides overseeing the HSE and Quality functions of the entire organization. He has over 40 years of experience in the field of industrial construction, testing and commissioning.

He joined Power Mech in the year 2002 as a Vice President and started looking after a few project of which the most notable one being Power Mech’s first overseas project in Libya. It was the erection, testing and commissioning project of a 2 x 157 MW gas fired power plant. He went on to become an Executive Director in the year 2007 and also held a board position. In 2009 under his guidance, company acquired ISO 9000 certification and led the way for implementation of the 5S concept. He was promoted as the COO in the year 2013. He was instrumental in commissioning India’s first Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) at Mundra, Gujarat for TATA Power. He also contributed a lot to grow the power business of Power Mech. He has devised a lot of project management techniques and also innovated a lot of construction methodologies that saved a lot of cost and time. It was under his guidance that Power Mech has diversified into other industrial sectors. He currently serves as the head of Non – Power Industrial Construction Business Unit where he supervises both pipeline and a few steel plant construction projects. His tenure at Power Mech is marked with transforming the operational landscape, evolving a strategic direction for the company, infusing best industry practices, inspiring swift turnarounds and affecting attenuated project delivery timelines among numerous other achievements.

Rajendran is a graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Madras, Tamilnadu. He’s an authorized & a qualified professional Engineer from the Institution of Engineers, Kolkata and also a member of Indian Institute of Welding.
